| Weald: 186 - 9 |
| Chevening: 150 - 6 |
| A number of regular players missed this fixture and the 9 men of Chevening couldn't contain Weald once again in the league. Bowling first, McAllister (3-37) and Blake (3-31) bowled well to restrict Weald early on, but the powerful Keats (85) and Hindley (37) put together a partnership and propelled Weald toward 200. Si Smithers (2-12) and Si Martin (1-24) took late wickets as Weald finished on 186-9. In reply Chevening's re-organised batting line up never looked like mounting a challenge as Stringer (1-23) and Farid (3-43) bowled well. Only S. Martin (35) and Smithers (48*) made much impression as chevening stumbled to 150-6. Other wicket takers for Weald were Keats (1-9) and Brooker (1-20). Weald won by 36 runs. |

| Weald playing away at Wadhurst started well and kept Wadhurst's batsmen on a leash by keeping the runs down. Wadhurst then strangely declared on 210, a total that Weald thought was very 'gettable'. In reply Weald lost the openers quickly, but this opened the door for the usual 'bowler' Brian Keates (114) who took apart the Wadhurst attack scoring his maiden ton for Weald. Weald lost a few wickets but got home with ease to win with overs to spare. Weald won by 4 wickets. |

With conditions to suit the new ball attack, runs were hard to come by. Matt Tye dug deep to score 58, Brock 19 and Tapp 15 chipped in but no batsman could dominate and Weald bowled out the Visitors for 145. In reply the in form Alistair Brooker 52 commanded the opening stand of 66 with all but 14 of the runs. Patch Blackman 45no and Stuart Seal 24no carried Weald home with 19 overs to spare. | Weald lost the toss and were inserted into bat on saturday and duly set about the Kemsing bowlers. Particully merciless was Alistair Brooker (96) who, with Dave Clive (33) amassed a 124 run opening partnership. With only 4 wickets lost all innings runs were free and easy. Steve balcombe (53no), Brian Keats (37), Dave Stringer (24) and Ian Hindley (15 no) all ticked the score along to a grand total of 289/4 in their 40 overs. Wood 3/48 and Brian Baldwin 1/43 were the only bowlers to trouble the wicket column. In reply Kemsing lost dangerous batsman G Wood early for 6. Ikram Farid bowled a superb tight opening spell to finish with 3/12 off 7 overs, supported extremely well by Dave Stringer and Dave Clive who all bowled miserly spells. Only Pete Shaw (41) ever looked comfortable and apart from G Leno (10) nobody else made double figures due mainly to a blockbuster spell of bowling by the impressive Brian Keats. He removed the set Shaw and then rattled through the lower order in quick succesion. His figures of 4 overs 4 for 14 made for man of the match after backing up his earlier 37. A superb all round performance. Weald won by 190 runs. |

| Weald: 212 - 7 |
| Bidborough: 178 - 6 |
| Weald won the toss again and Captain Dave Clive decided to bat again, searching for more batting bonus points that Weald have been so good at collecting this season already. Weald opening batsmen Dave Clive (38) and Alistair Brooker (37) got their team off to a great start with an opening partnership of 80. Following the loss of Brooker, Steve Balcombe (74) came in at 3 and despite a lack of support from the Weald middle and lower order managed to push the score on over 200. Weald ended up on 212-7. In reply Bidborough struggled against the accurate bowling of Dave Stringer (0-30) and Ikram Farid (1-31) hitting only 25-0 after the first 12 overs. As the pressure grew Bidborough realised that they needed to start hitting out and here is where the wickets started to fall. The introduction of Steve Balcombe (3-42) and Brian Keates (1-4) the deciding factor. Bidborough fell 34 runs short of the target in the end with Weald failing to bowl the home side out. Weald won by 34 runs. |

| Weald: 175 - 7 |
| Shoreham: 178 - 6 |
| Weald won the toss and elected to bat on a warm saturday afternoon. They were soon in trouble with the loss of Alistair brooker for just 4 but a steady 67 run partnership between Steve Balcombe (10) and Dave Clive (101) looked to set the stage for a respectable total. Some tight bowling and good fielding from Shoreham restricted Weald throughout the innings and they could only muster 175 for 7 from their 40 overs with only a cameo 12 from 4 balls from Dave Stringer enabling that. Bob Stacey 3-36 was the major wicket taker. In reply Shoreham were in desperate trouble after opening spells by Dave Stringer 3-19 and Steve Malkin 1-17 had them at 33 for 5 and all the top 5 in the hutch. It was only a masterfully watchful innings by skipper James Trick (49no) and an attacking Edge (57) that kept them in it. When edge finally succombed they had amassed a 122 run partnership which left them only 20 from victory and 4 overs to get it. McDonald 12 no and J Trick saw them home with 5 balls to spare. A very dissapointing afternoon for Weald which saw J Trick dropped early in his innings and surely that cost them the game, however nothing can be taken away from Shoreham who battled through a disaster of a start to gain the points and at this point in time what looks like an unassailable lead in div3. Weald lost by 4 wickets. |

| Weald batted first at home and immediately lost the openers to some good bowling from the visitors. It was left to Dave Clive (60) and Steve Balcombe (61*) to steady the ship after a small collapse from the middle order, and together with some of the lower order Weald managed to scrape to 175-8 from 48 overs. The visitors looked to attack the target straight away, but lost an opening batsmen to the superb bowling of Patrick Blackman (2-17) on the fourth ball of his first over. At the other end, Patrick was nicely supported by father John Blackman (1-16) before the other opening batsmen was run out by an amazing throw from the boundary by other son Greg Blackman (1-11). The wickets began tumbling in a ridiculous fashion, and the visitors could have been bowled out for 50 at one point. They eventually struggled to 88 all out from the excellent all round bowling from Brian Keates (2-17), Matthew Keates (2-11) and Sam Norris (1-9). A brilliant bowling and fielding performance by Weald to skittle out their opponents. Weald won by 87 runs. |

| Weald again lost the toss on saturday and were put into bat. Alistair Brooker (30) got them off to a good start, the loss of Clive (4) and Stringer (11) however had them at 53 for 3. Brian Keats (94) steadied the ship and punished any wayward bowling and helped Weald to into the 200's before falling 6 runs short of a deserved century. New player Ikram Farid hit a blustery 19 but the accurate Glover (6 for 35) polished up the tail for a deserved haul and maximum bowling points. Booth (2 for 51) and Thomas and Lloyd-James both 1 for 36 were the other wicket takers. In reply Speldhurst lost their first wicket at 43 due to a kamikazee run out of Pierre-Roche for 28. It was then down to T Dandy (98) to make up for this error and try to see speldhurst home. Lloyd-James (18) and M Glover (16) however were the only other batsmen to reach double figures and Dandys unfortunate day continued, being the last man out at 98, 2 runs short of undeniably deserved century. Steve Balcombe 3 for 30 and Dave Stringer 3 for 41 were main wicket takers, youngster Josh Salter took 2 wickets for 19 off his four overs. It was a very near thing for Weald again this week and but for Balcombe and Stringers sterling work with the ball at the death Speldhurst were on course for an upset. With a massive game against Shoreham next week this will be a top of the table clash not to miss.. Weald won by 17 runs. |

To say Weald were too strong for them would be something of an understatement. In the runs were Andy Brooker (100*), Steve Balcombe (71*) and Harry Salter (39*). | Weald: 223 - 8 |
| Knockholt: 227 - 2 |
| After losing the toss and being put into bat Weald were off to a flyer on Saturday on a wet and slow pitch. Runs were easy to find for the in form Alistair Brooker (66) who again punished anything short and wayward. Ably supported by B Kirby (28), Dave Stringer (37) and brian Keats (24). A total in excess of 240 was on the cards, but a few badly chosen shots and reckless abandon from the lower order handed Knockholt a lifeline and some bowling points and 223/8 was the 40 over score. Wickets were shared amongst the bowlers but best of the bunch was veteran James Amos 3/46. In reply Knockholt batted out 3 maidens checking out the opening attack, but it wasnt long before form batsman Stuart Thresher (121 no) opened his shoulders. His innings was by no means chanceless and Weald were made to pay for a couple of dropped catches. Although not easy, the old saying of catches win matches surely rung in their ears. Thresher was also lucky to survive a couple of LBW decisions, but rode his luck, and, supported by Roe (38) and George Roffey (39) demorolised the Weald luckless attack. With two overs to go both teams were in with a chance of the spoils, Knockholt needing 19 runs and with wickets in hand had Hardstone (11 no) to take on the economical Dave Stringer and he found the middle of the bat smashing a 4 and a 6 in succesive balls. In total 18 came from from the penultimate over. 1 over and 1 run needed Thresher again got the better of a good LBW shout before smashing the next ball for 4 and collecting the points for the win. A much needed win for Knockholt and for Weald the first taste of defeat this season, with two important games to come Weald need to pick themselves up and look forward. Weald lost by 8 wickets. |

| Weald: 180 - 5 |

| St Johns were the visiting team for this sunny Sunday afternoon game at Weald, and Weald batting first started cautiously against some tight bowling, before looking to push on. Dave Clive (22) and Andy Brooker (56) steadily built up a good opening partnership of 42, before Clive was bowled. Martin Addison (31) then continued the fight well supported by Brooker and they put on 68 for the next wicket. Finally, brothers Dominic (27*) and Matthew Keates (12*) batted excellently at the end to see Weald to a defendable target of 180. Weald opening bowlers Ryan Addison (2-32) and Brian Keates (0-22) troubled the openers, but couldnt take the early wickets and the visitors began to chase down the target with an opening stand of 139. The introduction of youngster Dominic Keates (4-12) as the seventh bowler proved the winning decision as he took apart the middle order and prevented the visitors from reaching the target by three runs from 40 overs. An opening partnership of 41 looked to set them on the way, but a burst of wickets by the impressive Macallister (9 ov 2/24) saw Weald rocked to a teetering at 65 for 5. However, a superb 112 run partnership between Ian Hindley 45 and Greg Blackman 91 pushed Weald to a respectable total of 227 for 9. Josh Salter 11 runs from 3 balls at the end a fine ending to the innings. As well as Macallisters 4 wickets, Rob Hadlow picked up 3 wickets at the end. In reply Mark Challis (24) and A Black (59) knocked up a quick fire 56 run partnership, Macallister (20) chipped in to take Chevening to 109 for 2 after 19 overs. Looking well set, Macallister, uncharacteristically charged veteren John Blackman (2/47) missed the ball and was bowled. This enabled Keats ( 3/53) and Blackman to take 4 wickets in as many overs to check back the Chevening run chase and at 121/6 a further 100+ runs were needed. Simon Smithers (36), looking to up the scoring rate had one big shot too many and fell to fine finishing Dave Stringer who polished up the tail to finish with figures of 7 overs 4 for 23. | After a wet week, a dry wicket was certainly out of the question on saturday, and after winning the toss, it was a suprise to see the home side elect to bat. The Weald openers took to the task and both opened their accounts with boundries, Alistair Brooker (51) gaining a maximum with his first scoring stroke. Brian Kirby (22) was first to depart with the score on 38. In form Harry Galpin (30) strode to the wicket full of confidence and eased the ball around the park, but, when looking set, danced down the wicket and was stumped. By this time 110 was on the board and a platform was being set. Brian Keats (29) added some useful runs, but three cheap wickets put a hold on matters. With four overs to go Weald were 186 for 5 but with the big hitting Steve Balcombe (73no) at the crease 43 runs came from four overs, 20 of the last over itself, and the total read 229 for 7. Most bowlers suffered for Sissinghurst but best was L Talyor with a very respectable 9 overs 2 wickets for 33. In reply, Sissinghurst struggled early on against the pace of Harry Galpin (2/14) and the swing of Steve Balcombe (1/35), M Burgess (26) the only one looking comfortable, but it was with the introduction of Steve Malkin (5/20) that the damage was done. Losing three wickets with the score on 44, Sissinghurst could only consolidate for a few overs and gradually slipped behind the run rate. Ian Wicks (29) started to look classy with some lustful blows but went for one too many and was caught in the deep. A Metcalf (16) hung around, but eventually Sissinghurst were all out for 117. |

| On a wonderfully hot and steamy afternoon Weald recreation ground produced 400+ runs with the home side coming up trumps on their opening league game of the season. Winning the toss and electing to bat Weald got off to the worst possible start, losing opener Dave Clive for a duck. A super 115 run partnership followed between Brian Kirby (49) and Dave Stringer (60) before the former ran out of puff and avoided the jug by a whisker. This brought the wylie Brian Keats (66) to the crease and he batted till the last ball of the innings to ensure a solid total was reached. Helped along admirably by the stylish looking Steve Balcome (25) and Alex Line (11 no). Bidborough stuck to the task well and used seven bowlers to help battle the heat. Top wicket taker was M White with 3 for 36. In reply, Biborough started cautiously looking to see off the opening bowlers but Steve Balcombe (3/31) took 3 vital wickets in 3 overs to rock back the visitors. A solid 52 run partnership looked to gain some momentum with Paul Eames (75 no) and M Murphy (26) keeping the scorers busy. The evergreen Graham Saunders (2/34) bowled a fine 9 over spell and removed the dangerous Murphy, M White came to the crease with all guns blazing to register a quickfire 13 but with his departure bidborough looked to aim for batting points and an unbeaten 64 run partnership between P Eames and Becky Steptowe (17 no) took them to the close.
